At a Special Village Board Meeting on Monday, September 15, the Village Board of Trustees unanimously voted to accept Mayor Timothy Knight’s appointment of Rebecca Kelley as the new Village Clerk, effective October 15. Ms. Kelley is Deputy Clerk currently.

Following the announced retirement of longtime Village Clerk Melanie Laraway in late August, the Village Board advertised the open position, and the Personnel Committee interviewed two applicants. The mayor separately interviewed each applicant as well.

“Ms. Kelley has been doing a fantastic job with the Village of Middleburgh these past four and a half years as Deputy Clerk, where she has had a great teacher and role model in Ms. Laraway,” stated Mayor Knight.

He added, “We are going to miss Melanie terribly, but Becky has our full confidence as she transitions into her new position this fall.” The Village is now accepting applications for the position of Deputy Clerk.
