At the August Village Meeting, the Village Board of Trustees approved MSL Construction’s Bid of $31,000 to demolish the structure at 111 Railroad Avenue and to backfill the site in preparation for a public parking lot to be installed. The Board chose MSL’s bid out of five received by the Village during the RFP process.
Following the bid award, Mayor Timothy Knight and MSL Construction consulted on the timeline for this project, with the contractor eyeing a tentative start date of Monday, August 25th. When the structure is being torn down, the Village Department of Public Works will close Railroad Avenue for one to two hours that day.
Residents and business owners will be notified of when the demolition is scheduled to occur as the date approaches. The Village is paying for this demolition project out of savings, which will be repaid over the next five years in the budget to replenish the fund for future community projects.
“111 Railroad Avenue has stood as a blight in our community for over a decade at this point,” said Mayor Knight after the demolition bid was approved. “Following a lot of hard work by our Village Attorney and Village Code Enforcement, this blight will soon be eliminated from Middleburgh.”
