At the March Village Board Meeting, the Village Board of Trustees approved Burke Innovations Corp’s sidewalk bid of $19,900 to replace the dilapidated, existing sidewalks on Upper Railroad Avenue. The Board chose Burke Innovations Corp’s bid out of five received by the Village during the RFP process. Theirs was the second lowest bid.

In addition to the five sidewalk bids, the Village also received two bids for the removal of three trees on Upper Railroad Avenue that are causing damage to the existing infrastructure. Pridemark’s bid of $3,600 was approved. To reduce costs, the Village DPW is going to remove the tree debris and restore grass to the affected construction areas.

The trees will be removed on Monday, March 10, and sidewalk replacement will occur when contractor availability and weather conditions allow later this Spring. Village residents will be notified via mail and social media when construction is scheduled to take place. The sidewalks will be replaced from the Fire House to Sheldon Avenue.

“I am excited to continue repairing our dilapidated residential sidewalks in the Village of Middleburgh,” commented Mayor Timothy Knight after the sidewalk replacement bid was approved. “With this project approved, we are on pace to have more than a quarter mile of sidewalk replaced since the start of 2024.”
