The Village of Middleburgh Board of Trustees are honored to announce that they designated Friday, May 17th, 2024, as St. Mark’s Day in celebration of the church’s two hundred years of dedicated, community-oriented service to our Village.
“St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church has been a spiritual cornerstone of Middleburgh for two hundred years, and with God’s blessings, they will continue to be so for another two hundred years more,” stated Village of Middleburgh Mayor Timothy Knight.
Introduced by Mayor Knight and unanimously approved by his colleagues at Monday night’s monthly board meeting, the resolution reads as follows:
Resolution #7-2024 – Establishing May 17, 2024 as “St. Mark’s Day”
WHEREAS St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (hereafter “St. Mark’s”) is a local religious institution of note in the Village of Middleburgh in the State of New York, presently located at 326 Main Street; and
WHEREAS St. Mark’s has continuously served Middleburgh and the surrounding community since being established in 1824 by providing religious instruction and devoted service for generations of residents; and
WHEREAS St. Mark’s is celebrating its Two Hundredth Anniversary on Friday, May 17, 2024.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Village of Middleburgh, New York, in recognition of St. Mark’s and all of its innumerable constructions to our community, has established May 17, 2024 as “St. Mark’s Day,” and furthermore, be it resolved that this Village Board of Trustees thanks the entire St. Mark’s congregation for being a pillar of the Village’s religious community.
