Village News|

The Village of Middleburgh received word yesterday morning that Senator Gillibrand has included our $2.6 million request to pay off the remainder of the debt owed for the sewer plant repairs among her list of earmarks in next year’s federal budget.

As was the case last year, we have a long road to go until this requested earmark is approved and signed into law. However, we are thankful for Ms. Gillibrand and her staff for working to assist our community in paying off this important project.

If this earmark is ultimately approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee, the Village would be able to reduce our debt redemption charges and begin the process of exploring sewer line extension.

Just a reminder: these repairs were state-mandated, and necessary in light of system deterioration and flood damage from Hurricane Irene.
