The Village of Middleburgh Department of Public Works (DPW) Crew installed parking meters on Railroad Avenue early this morning on Monday, October 20th. The Village Board agreed to reinstall parking meters on the one-way street after receiving several requests from local residents and businesses.
The Village ordered new meters for this project earlier this year, but the housings were defectively keyed by the manufacturer, and the Village is in the process of having them replaced. The Village Crew repaired existing parking meters in storage to complete this project. As per a Motion approved on March 17, 2025, there will be a two-week grace period on meter collections in effect until Monday, November 3.
Parking meters in the Village of Middleburgh were established by Ordinance No. 55 on July 2, 1951, and were approved for both Main Street and Railroad Avenue. The Village does not utilize meters for revenue purposes but to encourage a steady flow of traffic in front of our small businesses.
