Over the coming week, several dead and dying trees in the Upper Middleburgh Cemetery are going to be removed by Pridemark Tree Services, which is being made possible by the thoughtful donation of Coltrain Funeral Home.

Village of Middleburgh Trustee Robert “Bob” Tinker, who serves as Commissioner of Cemetery, met with representatives of Pridemark to identify trees for removal earlier this year. The Village received a quote of $7,200 for the removal of the following trees: $2,500 – Triple Pine, $2,700 – 4 Cedar Trees in cluster; $1,300 – 1 Cedar Tree with holes; $700 – Double Cedar Split.

Coltrain Funeral Home generously offered to donate towards the tree removal, which the Village Board approved at its July 7 meeting. In addition to the aforementioned trees, the Village Board approved the removal of a skinny pine tree quoted at $400 that will come out of the Village Cemetery Budget. This follows the removal of several dead trees in 2023 by the Village, which was funded out of the Village Cemetery Perpetual Care Account to the tune of $7,900.

Trustee Tinker will be meeting with Pridemark representatives again before the end of this year to identify additional trees for removal moving forward.
